Whats in a name? Well everything and I know everyone is going to be curious about this one. This boat is designed for speed and I wanted a name that suite it but wasn't typical. When I was working on it I had visions of chasing Coots as than 'run' on the water trying to get up enough speed to be become air-born. So I labeled it Fast Coot and it stuck. I know, I know!

I was reading about a boat Brian at Cape Flacon designed and it really fascinated me. I am not a fast paddler and I have no desire to race, but I love the design process and this boat posed a challenge to me. So I started with Brian's comments that a racing hull need sharp entry, wider center and the stern to just kiss the water and be very narrow. This means a rudder is absolutely necessary on it.

Form follows function and while I find it has sweet lines, it's probably not an attractive boat to most people. But if your a strong paddler and can develop the horse power to take advantage of this boat potential I bet it will look good to you.

The design is still rough and I have a lot of refining to do on it. But the numbers show a lot of potential on this design.
